Youngstar of Nigerian descent attracting attention from Championship Clubs
Tim Iroegbunam's progress at Aston Villa and the England U19 team over the last one year has not gone unnoticed with reports linking the exciting midfielder with a plethora of clubs in the EFL Championship.
Birmingham Live is reporting that Sheffield United, Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers, Swansea City and Bristol City are interested in signing the Nigerian on a season-long loan deal.
Queens Park Rangers manager Michael Beale, who was formerly an assistant coach at Aston Villa, knows all about the qualities Iroegbunam possesses and is also keen on signing him on a temporary basis.
The question is whether Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard keeps Iroegbunam at Villa Park or sanction a loan move to a second-tier club, where he's guaranteed more playing time.
Although the 19-year-old is believed to be behind new signing Boubacar Kamara and Marvelous Nakamba in the pecking order of holding midfielders, Gerrard wants him to be part of the first team as it stands.
Signed from West Brom last summer, Iroegbunam was included in twenty three matchday squads in all competitions last season and took to the pitch on three occasions in the Premier League.
He signed a contract extension in March, keeping him at Aston Villa until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
Iroegbunam is expected to be involved on Friday evening when the Young Lions battle Israel in the 2022 U19 Euro final.
