West Ham's Mark Noble has called for video technology to be introduced into English football after his side's controversial 2-1 defeat to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

After James Collins had cancelled out Eden Hazard's penalty, Diego Costa could (and perhaps should) have been sent off for a second yellow card when he caught West Ham goalkeeper Adrian with a late challenge.

Costa escaped any further punishment however, and the Spaniard subsequently scored Chelsea's dramatic winner to earn Antonio Conte a win in his first Premier League match in charge of the Stamford Bridge club.

"?West Ham captain Noble has asked for the introduction of video replays into the Premier League after what occurred during the feisty London derby, likening the situation to that of the introduction of goal-line technology a few years ago.

"I knew it was a bad tackle. He didn't get anywhere near the ball. If I made that tackle in the middle of the pitch am I getting a yellow?" "?Noble told The Sun.

"You tell me the difference. I never blame the refs as I know how tough it is, how fast the play goes, how difficult it is to keep up with the play. But someone has got to give us some help."

"We have put goal-line technology in, we've done that and does anyone argue over whether the ball was over any more? No. Did we used to? Yes. Simple isn't it? It probably takes about five seconds for someone upstairs to look at a video.

"I've always been against technology stuff but it cost us last year too. Big decisions. Maybe they do even themselves out but it hurts at the time doesn't it?"?

Adrian has escaped serious injury and will be fit for West Ham's qualifying round first-leg against Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League in Romania on Thursday, as well as the Hammers' first Premier League match at the Olympic Stadium, against Bournemouth.
