West Brom could face stiff competition from Championship club Newcastle United in their pursuit of Leeds United "?full-back Charlie Taylor.

Taylor, who can also play further forward as a winger, made his debut for the Elland Road club back in 2011 and has spent seasons on loan at clubs such as Bradford City and Inverness before establishing himself in Leeds' first-team squad.

According to the "?Shields Gazette, West Brom are the favourites to sign the 23-year-old, but could face competition from Rafa Benitez's Newcastle, who have previously scouted Taylor and are likely to inspect his performance when Leeds take on the Magpies on Sunday.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis is reportedly an admirer of Daniels, and could attempt to sign him in January in a deal potentially worth £5m. West Brom's current left-back options include Allan Nyom, who signed for the club over the summer and has made seven Premier League appearances, and Brendan Galloway, who is on loan from Everton and has featured in just three league games.

Rafa Benitez is looking to improve his squad with the possibility of Premier League football next season looking increasingly likely with the club currently top of the Championship. Paul Dummett has filled the position so far this season thanks to Massadio Haidara's injury, while Achraf Lazaar is yet to start a game this season since his move from Palermo in the summer.

Should West Brom be successful in their pursuit of Taylor, Galloway could return to Everton and subsequently be loaned to Newcastle, who showed an interest in signing the 20-year-old before he made the move to the Hawthorns.
