Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre has issued a warning about an online impersonation scam after the team's 3-0 victory over Tunisia in their opening match at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Plumptre played a key role in helping the nine-time African champions keep a clean sheet against the North African side, and the win has put them top of Group B.

However, the defender's success on the pitch was marred by concerns off it, as she alerted fans to be cautious of fake accounts impersonating her online.

"There have been a lot of cases where people impersonate me, taking my name and saying things.

“There’s a Facebook account that’s being taken down, but it is promising people money and things like that and that’s just not true,” she explained on Ademola Victor TV.

Plumptre further that although she has a facebook account but she never uses it.
