Premier League Board chairman Welbeck Abra-Appiah has courted controversy by saying WAFA would have won the African Youth Championship if they had represented Ghana.

The Academy side, with an average age of 18, have been exhilarating to watch in the Ghana Premier League.

WAFA dance past opponents with ease and take the art of dribbling to its highest level.

Ghana’s U20 team won bronze at the tournament in Senegal and will play at the FIFA U20 World Cup finals this May.

But the head of the league organizer is of the view that WAFA could have bettered that by winning the tournament.

“I am amazed but if these WAFA players had represented Ghana at the African U20 tournament, they would have won easily won the tournament,” Abra-Appiah commented after watching their 2-1 win over Aduana Stars.

WAFA are fourth in the Ghana Premier League after 11 rounds of matches.
