Uganda captain Khalid Aucho is optimistic that the Cranes can make a positive impact at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, despite being drawn in a tough group, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Paul Put's side will face Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania in Group C, with the Super Eagles and Carthage Eagles tipped as favorites to progress.

However, Aucho, who plays for Tanzanian Premier League club Young Africans, believes the Cranes can compete with the top teams in their group.

"Being at AFCON means you're strong enough to compete with any team," Aucho said. "I know my boys and they will deliver. We want to make our fans happy."

Uganda will begin their campaign against Tunisia, with Aucho's confidence likely to boost the team's morale ahead of the tournament in Morocco.

The top two from the six groups of four teams will qualify automatically while the best four third placed teams will join the top teams in the Round of 16.
