U20 World Cup: Godfred Donsah offers a heartfelt apology to fans following Ghana's exit
Youngster Godfred Donsah has issued a public apology to supporters after Ghana's exit from the World Youth Championship in New Zealand.
The Italy-based striker said he was 'devastated' that the team had failed to reach at least the final.
The Black Satellites lost 3-0 to African neighbours Mali in the 1/16th stage to crush out of the competition last week.
Head coach Sellas Tetteh has come under intense criticism with GHANAsoccernet.com revealing he will be booted out in the coming days.
But the Ghanaian youngster, who plays for relegated Italian side Cagliari has apologised to the nation for the performances.
“We went into the tournament with high hopes. We were hoping to reach the Semi-final and possibly get to the finals,” he told reporters
“But is just unfortunate that we couldn’t get that far. We did our best but our best was not enough.”
"I want to apologise to the fans for whatever has happened. They should forgive us because we wanted to make them happy.
"We have to look ahead with high hopes going into the future."
