Ademola Lookman has officially returned to his parent club RB Leipzig for preseason after his loan contract with Leicester City expired at the end of June. The Nigerian international reported back for training on Monday.

Lookman spent last season on loan with Leicester City, where he scored eight goals and provided five assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. The Premier League side had the option to turn the transfer into a permanent one, but they have chosen not to use it.

Lookman has had a nomadic career thus far. He began his career with Charlton Athletic before moving to Everton in 2017 and then on loan to Leipzig for the second half of the 2017/18 season.

He signed a five-year contract to return permanently to The Red Bulls in July 2019. Before joining Leicester last season, he was on loan at Fulham for the 2020/21 campaign.

At the moment, Lookman’s Leipzig future is uncertain. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old could get another shot at proving his worth at the Red Bull Arena if he impresses in preseason under manager Domenico Tedesco.
