Transfer Deadline Day: Werder Bremen pursue Boniface loan deal
Werder Bremen are in talks to sign Nigerian striker Victor Boniface on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The German club according to Sky Sports reporter, Florian Plettenberg, has established contact with Leverkusen to secure the deal, which would bolster their attacking options.
Boniface was previously close to joining AC Milan, but the Italian club pulled out of the deal citing concerns over his fitness.
The striker has since returned to training with Leverkusen but was omitted from the matchday squad for their 3-3 draw with Bremen last weekend.
Bremen's pursuit of Boniface is driven by the need for added firepower upfront, following a disappointing start to the season.
The club has yet to record a win in three games across all competitions this term.
