"?Tottenham Hotspur are said to be weighing up a move for Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko as the window comes to a close, the "?Evening Standard report.

The Frenchman is viewed in high regard at White Hart Lane, and the London side have strong interest in signing him. However, the relegated Magpies have remained adamant on their required fee and will not accept anything less than £35m.

He has not made a single appearance for Newcastle this season, and was the subject of interest from several clubs, including Juventus and Inter Milan, who have both cooled their pursuit because of the fee.

Tottenham are not ready to cough the amount up either, as they know the player is likely to command a huge contract. And with him being 27, they don't believe that his resale value would be anything near what Newcastle want.

They do believe that a deal is still possible, with the lines of communication still open from the DeAndre Yedlin move, and will probably make an offer by Wednesday.

If the Magpies somehow lend a listening ear and lower their demands, Tottenham could reassess their options as it relates to other transfer targets.

Mauricio Pochettino is in for a pacey attacker and spoke of his intention to get one after the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on the weekend. They reportedly made a £14m bid for Crystal Palace's Wifried Zaha last week, but are still considering other targets as the Eagles are reluctant to sell.

Meanwhile, Marseille winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou could finally complete his move to White Hart Lane, having passed a medical a month ago.
