According to reports in France Tottenham Hotspur are on course to sign Marseille winger André Ayew in the summer transfer window.
The Ghana international is stalling on extending his contract with the French club and he will be a free agent in the summer.
Le10 Sport have reported in the last hours that Tottenham have held meetings with his agent over a possible deal to bring him to the Premier League.
Next month the North London club will be able to speak to the player over a pre contract but there is still a possibility in the Ghanaian joining during this transfer window for a small transfer fee.
Marseille could be open to this idea as it would mean they wouldn’t lose him for nothing in the summer.
However the likely outcome is that Tottenham will wait so they don’t have to pay a fee and then complete the deal in June. The Premier league side will be confident in signing Ayew after reports talks are well advanced to bring the player to England.
The forward is a vital player for Marseille but because of his wage demands it is unlikely he will sign an extension to his current deal which is something Tottenham could give him.
Marseille in the past couple of years have put in place a wage cap which could affect him signing beyond June 2015 and has already resulted in the club’s star forward Andre Pierre Gignac refusing to sign his extension.
Gignac looks to be leaving as a free agent in the summer and if Marseille don’t act soon Ayrew could be heading to Tottenham for no transfer fee.
