Tom Strand has praised his Medeama players following their 3-2 win over Great Olympics in the Ghanaian top-flight on Wednesday.

The Mauve and Yellows had to dig deep to kill off the resilience of the visitors in front of their home fans and kept their invincibility intact.

Olympics scored twice through Doetse Agbashie but Benjamin Bature, Joseph Tetteh Zugah and Kwame Boahene ensured the Mauve and Yellows picked the three points at stake.

The Swedish, who seems to have transformed the side since joining few weeks ago, hailed the team’s fighting spirit.

“You’ve got to give it to the players. They deserve all the plaudits for today’s performance,” he told the club’s official website.

“They (Olympics) gave us a tough time but we managed to bag in the maximum points.

“We should have scored more in the second half but their defense was resolute and you must give it to them.

“The players did well and deserve commendation. We look ahead to our next game against Bechem United on Sunday.”
