Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella has set his sights on a return to the Nigeria national team, the Super Eagles, after a year-long absence, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 25-year-old made his debut for Nigeria in November 2023, in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, but has not been called up since.

Tella, who previously played for Burnley, is determined to earn a recall to the Super Eagles and is focusing on improving his performances for Bayer Leverkusen.

"Of course, it's an honour to represent your country, but I have to play here more to get the recognition to play with the country," Tella told OmaSports TV.

"I think it's all about the right steps: keep getting better, keep improving and if I continue to do the right things, I hope Nigeria will call me back."

Tella's Bayer Leverkusen side are currently competing in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League, but has struggles for playing time comapre to last season.
