Super Falcons round off Turkey tour with massive win over New Zealand
Nigeria's Super Falcons have won their last international friendly match in their tour to Turkey against New Zealand on Tuesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Nigeria Women's Football national team defeated the New Zealand team by three goals to extend their wins to two consecutive wins at the Mardan Stadium Antalya.
Goals by Onome Ebi, Jennifer Echegini and a late minute goal by squad returnee, Desire Oparanozie ensured a three nil win over the New Zealanders.
The Ferns started the better side churning out different threats at goal save for the defense and the hands of Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Albeit, there were moments were Rasheedat Ajibade and Asisat Oshoala tried to put the Falcons in front, but their efforts were abortive.
In the 33rd minutes, the respite needed came as captain, Onome Ebi scored the opener through an header off Toni Payne's cross.
New Zealand did push for an equalizer, but the Nigerian team held on to the advantage till the end of the half.
The Falcons scored the second at the resumption of the second half as Jennifer Onyi Echegini tapped in the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Oparanozie came in for Esther Okoronkwo after the goal as Coach Randy Waldrum sought to beef up the attack.
The Ferns continued to push to get something out of the game, but the Falcons maintained play as Waldrum brought in Gift Monday for Oshoala while Ngozi Olobi came in minutes later for Toni Payne.
Oparanozie would score another goal for the Super Falcons at the dead of the game to put the icing on the cake and give her team a sweet victory at the end of their time in Antalya.
