Slippers award for GN Division One League man-of-match award winners raises eyebrows
Ghana football authorities have come in for criticism after it emerged that Division One League 'Man of the Match' winners receive slippers for their effort.
Players in the Ghanaian second tier have been reported to be given such awards since the headline sponsor GN Bank took charge of the league.
Six television stations cover matches of the second tier live which means that winners of man-of-the-match awards are named at the end of the game.
The positive innovation has been welcomes but the prize given out has attracted some negative publicity with the slippers award seen as not fitting.
Emmanuel Sowah Adjei the star player of Dream FC received the award on Saturday after they defeated D' International 1-0 in their league match.
The younger brother of former Asante Kotoko star and TP Mazembe playmaker received the award which has now gone viral, drawing some criticism to the organisers.
Since the sponsor of the competition is a bank, it is proposed that a dummy cheque of some amount could be proposed for consideration which will further enhance their sponosrship.

This is barbaric, but the blame should not go GFA, it should be directed towards the sponsors of the league, I think a phone would have been ideal, or some small cash for the players up keep, hmmmmmm Ghana for you, with this why wont players leave for better conditions.....
