Shehu Dikko has been appointed chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), following President Bola Tinubu's announcement to scrap the Ministry of Sports Development and replace it with the NSC, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Dikko's reputation as a sports administrator was cemented during his tenure as Chairman of the League Management Committee (LMC), where he oversaw significant development in Nigeria's top-flight football.

He also served as a consultant to the House of Representatives Sports Committee.

As NSC chairman, Dikko will lead the commission in overseeing the country's sports policies and administration, a role previously handled by the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.

The reconstitution of the NSC marks a new era in Nigeria's sports governance, with Dikko's experience and expertise poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation's sporting future.
