As Sevilla prepare to face Elche in their upcoming LaLiga clash at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, head coach Matías Almeyda will once again be without the services of Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Both players are yet to fully recover from their respective injuries, ruling them out of the weekend fixture.

There is cautious optimism, however, that Akor Adams may return shortly after the Elche game, with the striker not entirely ruled out but considered unlikely to feature.

Ejuke’s situation, on the other hand, is more concerning. The club’s medical department has confirmed that the winger has sustained a myofascial injury in the hamstring of his left thigh, forcing him to the sidelines once again.

For Ejuke, this latest setback is an all-too-familiar story. Since joining Sevilla in the summer of 2024, the Nigerian has endured a series of injury problems that have limited his availability. Just last year, he spent three months out with a similar hamstring issue, and his repeated absences have made him a regular name on the club’s injury list.

The pattern is a worrying one for Sevilla, who view Ejuke as a player capable of adding pace, flair, and creativity to their attack.

Unfortunately, his continued struggles with fitness have prevented him from making the consistent impact the coaching staff envisioned. As Almeyda contends with a growing injury list, Ejuke’s inability to stay fit remains a major concern for the club moving forward.
