After not doing so well in previous Afcon tournaments, Senegal goalkeeper and Captain Bouna Coundoul believes that they can bring a positive change in this year’s event.

He said the players clearly understand what the coach Alain Giressse is expecting from them and they are willing to work hard on each game. The Senegal team will face Ghana as their first test in Group C on Monday.

“The coach built a team for the Afcon. We can clearly see what he wants to do with this team. We are not saying that we will go all the way, we will take game after game but we are ready,” said Coundoul.

Senegal lost three of their games in the group stages in 2012 and failed to qualify for the 2013 finals, the skipper believes they will do better this time.

“We are having good momentum, we came here with a different spirit, a different staff than we had at the previous tournament,” he said.

Senegal and Ghana play first tonight followed by Algeria and South Africa.
