With 10 minutes left before the interval, Rangers finally made their pressure count through Nigeria-descent defender Emmanuel Fernandez who struck for the third time this season.

The breakthrough came from a corner kick that Hibernian failed to deal with, allowing the danger to linger inside the box.

The loose ball eventually fell to Dujon Sterling on the edge of the area and the Englishman produced an inviting delivery back into the danger zone. Fernandez, who had stayed forward from the set piece, timed his run perfectly and met the cross with a firm header that sailed past goalkeeper Josef Bursik to hand David Rohl's side the lead.

That first-half goal proved decisive as Rangers held on after the break to secure all three points.

With the job done, focus now shifts to Sunday’s trip to Tynecastle where the Nigeria eligible defender will be hoping to keep his place as Rangers face Hearts in their next league outing.
