Roma legend Roberto Pruzzo has urged his former club to pursue Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman for the second half of the season, highlighting the Nigerian forward’s recent form and impact at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Pruzzo believes Lookman could be the spark Roma needs to mount a serious challenge for the Serie A title.

Roma have already been busy in the winter transfer window, securing the signings of Robinio Vaz from Marseille and Donyell Malen from Aston Villa. However, the club remains determined to add reinforcements ahead of the decisive second half of the campaign. Sitting fourth on the table, seven points behind leaders Inter Milan, Roma are keen to strengthen their squad before the close of the January window. Pruzzo has now suggested raiding their Serie A rivals, Atalanta, for Lookman.

Over the past two seasons, Lookman has been a standout performer for Atalanta, contributing 55 goals and 26 assists in 134 appearances. The 28-year-old forward was widely expected to leave Bergamo in the previous summer transfer window, but Atalanta blocked moves despite reported interest from Arsenal, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and Galatasaray.

After a slow start to the current season, Lookman has hit top form since December and was pivotal in Nigeria’s third-place finish at AFCON 2025, contributing three goals and four assists. Pruzzo believes that acquiring the Nigerian international, possibly on loan, would be an ideal move to boost Roma’s attacking options.

“Roma should sign Lookman, maybe on loan. His adventure with Atalanta seems to be coming to an end,” Pruzzo told Radio Radio. “With a purchase like that, we could really start dreaming. There’s nothing concrete, but it would be the right move to close the circle and have fun from now until the end of the season.”
