Former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has wished new Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle all the best with his new team, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Rohr, who is now the technical adviser of the Benin national team, expressed hope that Chelle will gain valuable experience on the job and succeed with the Super Eagles.

"I wish all the best to the Super Eagles and Eric Chelle," Rohr told Brila.

"I knew him as a good player, and he has since gained coaching experience in France and with Mali."

Rohr's Benin side will face Chelle's Super Eagles later this year in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Nigeria currently faces an uphill task to qualify for the World Cup, occupying fifth position in their qualifying group.

Chelle will be under pressure to lead the Super Eagles to glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and Rohr's comments will be seen as a gesture of goodwill ahead of their impending clash.
