Spain international midfielder Rodri is hoping to help secure future success with Manchester City after completing his move from Atletico Madrid.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the reigning Premier League champions, with the Atleti star certain to add some much-needed competition for places in a defensive midfield role.

What City have achieved in the last two years has been amazing and I'm looking forward to being part of such a talented squad.

He told his new club's official website: "What City have achieved in the last two years has been amazing and I'm looking forward to being part of such a talented squad.

"It's not just the titles they have won, but the way they have managed it, playing attacking football at all times. It's a style that excites me, as do the club's ambitions.

"I can't wait to start working with Pep Guardiola and my new team-mates and hopefully we can achieve great things together."

Rodri, who has won six caps for Spain, had spent just one season with Atleti, having previously made his name with Villarreal.

He becomes the second summer signing for the Citizens, with the first coming when City agreed a deal to buy left-back Angelino back from PSV Eindhoven.

The 22-year-old Spaniard joined City in the summer of 2012 as part of the youth set-up and managed four first-team appearances, while also being loaned out to New York City, Girona, Mallorca and NAC Breda.

Twelve months ago he was sold to PSV, but his performances for the Eredivisie outfit were good enough to persuade City to trigger a buy-back clause to return Angelino to the Etihad Stadium.

City are 4/6 to win a third consecutive Premier League crown, while they are 10/3 to lift the FA Cup and 4/1 to triumph in the Champions League for the first time in their history.
