Leon Balogun says Rangers need a change in mentality to stop Celtic's dominance in Scotland, Nigeriasoccerner.com reports.

The Nigerian defender believes building confidence through repetition and pre-season friendlies is key to challenging Celtic's reign.

"We need to work on that shift in mentality and build more confidence," Balogun told Sky Sports.

"It's a process we need to work on every day, mainly through repetition, and gaining confidence in what we're doing."

Rangers' collapse last season saw them surrender a seven-point lead, allowing Celtic to claim their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Balogun acknowledges the importance of starting the season strongly, with a fixture against Hearts providing an early test of their progress.

“Obviously, pre-season friendlies are a vital part of that. Hearts is a very good way to start the season to see how far we’ve come and what we still have to do throughout the season.”
