Brighton head coach Graham Potter is hopeful that new signing Neal Maupay will be able to cope with the step up from the Championship to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old French striker has joined the Seagulls from Brentford on a four-year contract, having scored 37 goals in 85 Championship appearances for the Bees.

His record in the Championship has been exceptional and now his challenge is to transfer that to the Premier League.

Now Maupay needs to adjust to the demands of the top-flight, but Potter believes that his new recruit has got the qualities needed to be a success.

He told his club's official website: "Neal is a talented striker, with good strength and pace, and he is a goalscorer. He will add an extra dimension to our existing forward options.

"The club has been monitoring Neal and has been aware of his ability for some time. Separately I was also aware of his obvious ability (while) at Swansea and came up against him in the Championship last season.

"His record in the Championship has been exceptional, with 41 goals across the last two seasons, and now his challenge is to transfer that to the Premier League."

Brighton begin their third season in the Premier League with a trip to Watford on Saturday, with the meeting of the two sides at Vicarage Road last season having finished in a 2-0 victory for the Hornets.

Albion are available at 12/5 to secure a draw on Saturday, while the visitors are 3/1 to keep a clean sheet, with a goalless final scoreline priced at 15/2.
