Plumptre pens an emotional note after maiden international goal
Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre has expressed her joy and pride after scoring her first-ever goal for Nigeria in the team's 1-1 draw against Benin Republic, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Plumptre's header from an Esther Okoronkwo corner in the 12th minute gave Nigeria the lead, and despite the draw, the result was enough to secure the Super Falcons' spot in the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
The goal marked a special milestone for the England-born defender, who switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2022 and has become a mainstay in the team's backline.

Plumptre's performance and emotional message have earned widespread praise from fans and teammates alike, cementing her growing influence within the Super Falcons setup.
The 2026 WAFCON will be hosted by Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026 and Plumptre will be expected to be part of the squad to defend the tittle.
