"?Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that Peter Reid has left his coaching role, after Phil Parkinson's arrival as head coach.

Following Neil Lennon's departure in March, club legend Reid joined interim manager Jimmy Phillips' backroom staff.

The duo failed to keep the Trotters in the Championship and as a result Bolton's chief executive Dean Holdsworth appointed former Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson as the new manager.

In a "?club statement Holdsworth said: "On behalf of everyone at the club, I'd like to thank Peter for all his help and effort.

"It was a pleasure to be able to work with him and his opinions and values on the game are fantastic.

"He's been great for the club and we're delighted to have had the opportunity to work with him. He'll remain a close friend of myself and club."?

The ex-Sunderland boss spent seven years in Wearside, leading the Black Cats to two promotions to the Premier League.

Reid also had spells at Leeds United, Coventry City, Plymouth Argyle and Mumbai before taking up his coaching role at the Macron stadium.
