Paris 2024 Olympics: South Africa's Desiree Ellis releases provisional squad lift for Super Falcons clash
Banyana A provisional 30-man team has been announced by Banyana coach Desiree Ellis for the much awaited Fourth Round CAF Women's Olympic qualifying match against Super Falcons of Nigeria next month, Nigeriasoccernet.com can confirm.
The senior women's team from South Africa, sponsored by Sasol, defeated Tanzania 1-0 (4-0 overall) in the second leg of the third round CAF Women's Olympic qualifying tournament last month at the Mbombela stadium in Mpumalanga, putting them two wins away from earning a trip to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
On March 25, 2024, coach Desiree Ellis' team will report to camp in anticipation of facing their bitter rivals.
When Ellis selects the team later this month, the final 23 players will be confirmed for the Olympic qualifying tournament. The intriguing match's home leg venue will be announced by the South African Football Association (SAFA) in the coming days.
Owing to an injury, Wendy Shongwe was been taken off from the preliminary squad list. Kholosa Biyana was also left out due to an injury she sustained during last month's Olympic qualifying match against Tanzania.
