Opportunity For Nigerian clubs As FIFA Announce 32 Teams Club World Cup.
Gianni Infantino says FIFA will launch a new 32-team men's Club World Cup starting in 2025
The new Club World Cup concept was initially meant to launch in China in 2021 with 24 teams but was cancelled due to the pandemic - and is now set for a further expansion from June 2025.
With number set to be 32 in 2025, African clubs will get the chance to have more than one representative compare to before when its only the CAF Champions League winners that get take part in the competition and Nigeria clubs can now have the opportunity to play in the competition if they win the CAF Champions League of or any other format Africa will be using for selection.
No African team have won the Club World Cup with TP Mazembe getting to the final in 2010 and Raja Casablanca three years later.
Meanwhile Morocco has also been announced by FIFA as the host country for 2023 Club World Cup. The completion which will be played between February 1 to 11 will feature Real Madrid, Flamengo, Seattle Saunders, Auckland City, Wydad Casablanca and two other teams yet to be join.
