Nigeria Super Falcons have been knocked out of the group stage of the 2024 Olympics in Paris after their third consecutive loses, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nine-time African champions lost their last group match against Japan 3-1 to put a stop to their participation of the Games at the Stade La de Beaujouire Lois Fonteneau.

The Japanese went into the lead on 22 minute through Maika Hamano before Mina Tanaka made it two 10 minutes later.

Jennifer Echegini reduced the deficit with Nigeria's first goal of the tournament to make it 2-1, but Japan made it three through a pin-point free-kick from Hikaru Kitagawa in the first half.

The Super Falcons put up a much more gallant performance in the second half, but could not change the result.
