Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Ghana full-back Baba Abdul Rahman from German Bundesliga side Augsburg. 

The 21-year-old passed medicals in Paris on Friday afternoon and officially signed a five-year-contract worth £17 million for the English champions who have confirmed the move on their official website.

GHANAsoccernet.com revealed on Friday that Chelsea will announce the signing of the former Asante Kotoko left-back after their clash with Manchester City and they have dully confirmed the move on their website.

"Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have reached an agreement with FC Augsburg for the transfer of Abdul Baba Rahman," a statement on Chelsea's official website announced the news.

Augsburg General Manager confirm the sale of the defender to the West London side on Saturday and Chelsea have followed suite to announce the move on their website.

Baba, who will earn a weekly wage of £64,000, will have to fend off competition from Spanish international Cesar Azpilicueta for a regular starting role.
