Rivers Angels earned a point against Bayelsa Queens in their first match of the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League Super Six after scoring a late goal, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Rita Peter scored late in the second half to see the Jewels of Rivers play a 1-1 draw against the Prosperity Girls at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Saturday.

A cagey affair between the two former league champions ended without goals at the end of the first half.

However, the second half saw two goals scored as Fehintola Mabokanje broke the deadlock from the spot after Rivers Angels player handled the ball inside the area on 55 minute.

Rivers Angels came back on level terms with 8 minutes remaining to the end of the game as Rita Peter scored a rebound as the South-South ended 1-1.
