NWFL Super Six: Confluence Queens return to winning ways
After a 5-1 loss in their first game against Edo Queens, Confluence Queens recovered in their second game against Heartland Queens to take maximum points in the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Lokoja based outfit defeated the Owerri Ladies 2-0 in the last game of matchday 2 on Monday at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenegao.
After a first half without goals, Merit Offor put the Lokoja-based side in front from the spot, with her second goal of the tournament.
Before Feranmi Odutade who replaced Offor on 86 minute handed Confluence a two-goal cushion with fine header a minute later.
The goal sealed the win for Confluence Queens, giving them their first 3 points of the tournament.
The result means Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens share the top spot with 4 points while Edo Queens and Confluence Queens are third and fourth respectively with 3 points each.
Nasarawa Amazons are fifth while Heartland Queens stay bottom with a point each for the two sides after matchday 2.
