Sunshine Queens secured a prominent win over reigning champions, Delta Queens as the Nigeria Women Football League resumed for the second half of the season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Akure Ladies who are rock bottom in group B of the league staged a comeback to get 3 points at the Akure Township Stadium on Wednesday

Chisom Nwachukwu put the visitors in front in the 25th minute of the game, but Bolaji Olamide restored parity for the hosts 6 minutes before the end of the first half.

In the second half, the home side took the game to the defending champions and were rewarded after the 1 hour mark.

Olamide was on hand to give Sunshine Queens the lead for the first time with her second of the day in the 68 minute.

The goal proved enough to earn maximum points for the hosts at the end of the encounter to help the relegation battle.
