Heartland Queens have successfully achieved an uncommon comeback to the mainstream Nigerian women league, NWFL Premiership with her 100% performance at the 2021/2022 NWFL Championship in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.

The Owerri side completed the flawless performance with an emphatic 2-0 spanking of opposite, Crystal Stars in Sunday’s last group match at the Training Pitch of Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium.

Captain Ugobest Osuji scored the match opener for the Owerri landladies while former Nigerian junior international, Oluchi Ofoegbu crowned the day in glory for her side with a brilliant effort.

The two goals came in the second half of a cagey, cautious and tension soaked encounter.

The Yenagoa side gave the clash everything humanly possible to no avail aimed at spoiling the creditable record of their auspicious opponents, Heartland Queens.

The Owerri side had early subdued other group’s opponents, Dannaz Ladies, Beautiful Tours Angels, Moje Queens, Kwara Ladies in a characteristic and no-nonsense fashion.

Heartland Queens amassed a breathtaking 15 points from five matches three ahead closest challengers, Dannaz Ladies to earn the group’s lone promotion ticket thereby ending two seasons painful stint in the second tier league.

Another premiership returnee, Ibom Angels picked the promotion ticket in Group A beating former premiership side, Dreamstar Ladies to the second spot.
