Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri has been voted the Player of the Match after an impressive display in their 2-0 win over Leicester City, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The England-born midfielder of Nigerian descent delivered a standout performance, providing a crucial assist for Mikel Merino's 81st-minute opener.

Nwaneri, an academy graduate, edged out strong competition from Merino, who scored both goals, as well as Gabriel Magalhães and Declan Rice to claim the award.

The 17-year-old secured 56% of the votes, with Merino receiving 42%. Rice and Gabriel garnered two and one vote, respectively.

Nwaneri's performance was all the more impressive given Arsenal's injury woes, particularly among their attacking players.
