Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed his admiration for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, revealing his desire to join the club, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Nwabali's impressive displays at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations sparked links with Kaizer Chiefs, but they opted to sign Rwanda's Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy instead.

The 28-year-old ultimately signed a new three-year contract with Chippa United and was appointed captain.

Speaking to MetroFM, Nwabali confessed: "To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I really want to play for, this is a club I really want to play for in South Africa."

He added: "Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I wanted to play for with all my heart. I won't say I've been supporting them, but this is the club I felt like I want to play for."

Nwabali's candid admission highlights his enduring interest in joining Kaizer Chiefs, a move he would have relished.
