Nigeria Premier Football League newbies, Ikorodu City have finally secured their first-ever win in the league after an emphatic win on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Three goals in the second half gave the Oga Boys side a much-desired win against Bendel Insurance at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium, after six matches played in the 2024/2025 season.

A domineering first half saw the hosts' goal-bound attempts cleared off the line twice, and a goal was ruled out for offside, as the half ended goalless.

3 minutes into the second half, Rivio Ayemwenre broke the deadlock after an amazing run from the skipper Waliu to get past two players and send a cross to the far post for the striker to head in.

Kelechi Onwe scored his first-ever top-flight goal after meeting a long throw from Tosin to head past the goalkeeper and give Ikorodu City a 2-0 lead.

Ajeyigbe Toyeeb who came in the 62nd minute marked his return with a clean strike, taking out the goalkeeper and blasting into the top roof to make it 3-0 in the 73rd minute.

Ikorodu City stayed effective till the end to get their first maximum points of the campaign, getting four points, but still at the bottom of the log.
