The management of Nigeria Premier Football League side, Heartland FC has announced the slash in the Club's players salaries due to poor performance, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The Naze Millionaires have been a torrid form in recent times which have seen them at the bottom of the league standings after 22 matches.

The Owerri based side lost 5-1 at home to Plateau United in an embarrassing fashion and the recent development has necessitated the slash of the players' salaries till further notice.

"The club management has decided to slash the salaries of the players by half as from now henceforth until the team's performance improves," GM, Nwachukwu told the club's media.

"I was just deeply rooted to one spot after the game yesterday and was the last to leave the stadium because I could not have envisaged the poor performance the players exhibited against Plateau United. They played as if nothing was at stake and as If they were bereft of ideas.

"In all my time at the club, I have never seen a time Heartland FC played so poorly. This is beyond coaching issue and it is time the players took the blame for the defeat and try to redeem their image with a win against Sunshine Stars on Sunday.

Heartland FC are 20th on the log with 18 points and will host Sunshine Stars on Sunday at the Awka City Stadium, Anambra.
