Akwa United earned a slim victory over Nasarawa United to leave the bottom of the Nigeria Premier Football League log, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

A goal by Ghanian Paul Acquah in the first half was all the Promise Keepers needed to inflict a third consecutive defeat on the Solid Miners in Uyo.

Acquah's goal came in the 34th minute of the goal after half-hour dominance by the host in the match day 12 encounter.

The former Rivers United player headed in the ball from a follow-up after an initial attempt at goal by Kabir Osoba.

Goalkeeper Hakeem Otuyiga made two fine saves to keep the score 1-0 in favour of the host at halftime.

Akwa United remained efficient despite a 70-minute red card for Reuben Bala, who received a second yellow card, to take all three points at the end of the final whistle.
