Noah Adedeji powers Genk past Ikechukwu's Anderlecht
Nigeria-eligible Noah Adedeji-Sternberg was on target on Tuesday as KRC Genk defeated Anderlecht 2-0 in matchday 7 of the Belgian Pro League, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
Starting the game from the bench, Adedeji was introduced for Nigeria's Yira Sor in the 85th minute of the encounter, a minute before scoring his first league goal of the season.
Born in Germany on 19 June 2005, Adedeji moved to Belgium and began playing for Royal Antwerp as a youth player. He then moved to fellow Belgian club Excelsior Mouscron, and then German club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, before moving to Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019. Adedeji-Sternberg played for Borussia Monchengladbach until 2023 when he moved back to Belgium with Genk, signing a contract until 2027.
Tolu Arokodare another Nigerian player saw 78 minutes of encounter for Genk in the game. Despite failing to score against Anderlecht on Tuesday, Arokodare has netted 5 goals for KRC Genk in 7 appearances this season.
On the other side, Nigeria-eligible Samuel Ikechukwu Edozie 68 minutes for Anderlecht in what was their first defeat of the season. Edozie joined Belgian side Anderlecht on a season-long loan on September 4th from Southampton. He joined Southampton on September 1st, 2022, from Manchester City. Edozie signed a five-year contract with the Saints.
