Nigeria's International Defender, Chidozie Awaziem, has expressed a fantastic feeling of joy following how the fans of his Croatian club, Hadjuk Split, were shouting his name on Saturday.

The former FC Nantes player on loan from Boavista in the Primeira Liga was the hero on Saturday as he scored the winning goal against Veradin and handed his team a 2-1 away win.

"Honestly, I'm very happy, it's hard for me to describe what I feel, but believe me, it's fantastic.

"I am happy that I helped the team to win, this is what I want, Hajduk always wins, and I am here to do my best.

"Hearing the whole stadium shouting my name was a great feeling.

"They supported us until the very end of the game, they are excellent and I want to thank them for everything", he told the club media.

Awaziem made his senior debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on 1 June 2017, starting in a 3–0 win over Togo in Paris in an exhibition game.

Awaziem was included in Gernot Rohr's 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, being an unused player as the tournament ended in group stage exit. He was also called up for the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
