Nigeria-eligible, Trevan Sanusi has been tipped for stardom ahead of the new season under Eddie Howe after blistering performances for Newcastle United in the pre-season games played so far, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Newcastle boss has discovered a gem that he can possibly count on in the under-the-radar signing from last year and he could come to the fore over the coming campaign.

Newcastle United's teenage prodigy, Trevan Sanusi, showcased his burgeoning talent to a Japanese audience on Wednesday. The 17-year-old, who joined the Magpies from Birmingham City last year amidst a flurry of interest from Premier League heavyweights, made a cameo appearance in the 4-1 victory over Urawa Red Diamonds.

The youngster's brief stint on the pitch ignited excitement among Newcastle supporters as they caught a glimpse of the future.

Eligible for Nigeria and England, the versatile forward can play across the front line as he is very quick and direct, catching the eye playing for United's Under-21 team last season.

"He's definitely got a talent," said Howe as culled from Dailymail Sports, who also fielded Sanusi off the bench in the club's 2-0 win over Hull City last weekend.

He could make his second consecutive appearance of the club's Japanese pre-season tour when they face Yokohama F Marinos in Tokyo on Thursday. The highly-rated midfielder, who recently turned professional, is keen to impress manager Eddie Howe as the Magpies build towards the upcoming Premier League campaign.
