The Nigeria Football Federation has stated that the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo will host the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying fixture between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Desert Foxes of Algeria as against the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt being mentioned in some section of  the media.

The Rivers State government, it was reported on Saturday, were said to have accepted request from the NFF to host the match billed for November 7,2016. But the spokesman of the Federation, Ademola Olajire informed Nigeriasoccernet.com at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta on Sunday that there is no truth in the report.

"Our game against the Algerians will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo," Olajire disclosed.

"I don't know  where the Port Harcourt story came from, but it's important for media men to confirm story like this from the NFF before releasing it out for public consumption.

"The NFF didn't write any letter to the River State government as we have already concluded on the choice of Uyo for the game."

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo hosted Nigeria's last home  fixture against Tanzania, a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earlier this month
