Newly elected NFF President promises to support NPFL Clubs ahead of their CAF Second leg Encounter

Newly elected President of the Nigerian Football Federation(NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has promised to back the three Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) clubs representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.

The former Zamfara FA Chairman praised all three teams for their great work on the continent in this campaign. Speaking to reporters after the Rivers united match, he promised to put hands together with the clubs and get them prepared for the return leg.

“We are happy today. at least the three teams representing Nigeria won their matches. We will try anything we can do to have a good preparation going for the second leg” Gusau promised.

Rivers United defeated CAF Champions Legaue Winners, Wydad Athletic Club, by pulling a 2-1 comeback victory. The same was the story at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja where four time CAF Champions League Winners, Esperance Sportive du Tunis, were defeated by Plateau United.

In the CAF Confederations Cup, Kwara United came from a goal down to win 3-1 against CAF Confederations Cup defening champions, RS Berkane ,at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos to be in a comfortable position for next week’s return leg.

All NPFL team involved on the continent squared off against North Africans teams and won their respective battles, they all will be hoping to get the job done in North Africa and get into the group stages of their respective CAF Club Competitions.
