Something has changed for Columbus in 2021 after a locker room celebration-filled finish to the 2020 season. The Crew have only 24 points in 19 games and are now ninth in the Eastern Conference, one position (and two points) below the playoff line. They've dropped four straight games by a total score of 12-5, allowing an unusually high number of goals. Their 21 goals are tied for third-worst in the Eastern Conference.

This year, the Crew has dealt with a slew of severe injuries. Artur, the center-midfielder, has been unavailable. Milton Valenzuela, the left-back, has been ruled out. BWP and Molino, their two new strikers, have both missed significant time this season. The list could go on indefinitely.

There's still time for Columbus to turn things around, but with more than half of the season behind them, Caleb Porter's squad has to undergo some serious soul-searching.
