Marseille president Vincent Labrune concedes his winger Andre Ayew will look elsewhere as his side can't compete with English and other European sides who are ready to pay the Ghanaian huges wages.

Liverpool and Tottenham target Andre Ayew is set to quit Marseille when his contract runs out this summer after the Ligue 1 side admitted they can't afford to keep him.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a series of Premier League and European sides, and will make his decision in the coming weeks.

But the winger, who starred in Marseille's 2-1 win over Monaco at the weekend, won't be staying at the side he joined as a youngster as he looks to earn more elsewhere.

L'OM president Vincent Labrune, speaking ahead of BT Sport's live televised game last Sunday, says he wishes Ayew well in the future.

"We can't keep Ayew. He is a very important player for OM but we can't offer him the kind of money English clubs can offer," he explained.

"The French financial system is complicated and we can't offer him an equivalent salary to what he can earn in England. And equally, we can't ask Ayew, who we love and is an icon of our team, to accept a lower salary.

"That makes no sense so unfortunately he is going to quit the club and we hope he has the great career that he deserves in England or somewhere else."

Ayew, a boyhood Liverpool fan, said last week that the Premier League is tempting.

"I'm taking my time and soon I will take a decision on my future. And yes, there is a possibility I will come to the Premier League and possibly to another country."
