Maresca highlights Cherki’s creativity while stressing football fundamentals

Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca has discussed midfielder Ryan Cherki’s use of skills and tricks, saying he values the happiness that players show when expressing themselves but remains a believer in football’s basic principles.

“I like it when players are happy, but I love simple things in football,” Maresca said.

Cherki has featured in 11 matches for Manchester City in all competitions this season. The midfielder has scored six goals and provided two assists.
