English Premier League side Bournemouth have revealed that they had to fight off competition from other top sides in the Premier league to sign Ghana star Christian Atsu.

Atsu secured a loan move to the newly promoted side Bournemouth last week from his parent club Chelsea.

The Ghana winger struggled during a stint at Everton but hopes to have more of a chance with the Cherries.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: "We are loaning a player of huge potential, again we had to fight off several other Premier League clubs to get him, so we are very, very pleased.

"I think he will bring pace and ability to beat a man one-v-one which is very important in the Premier League, so for all those reasons I think he is a great signing for us."

Atsu showed glimpses of brilliance at the World Cup with Ghana, leaving Everton fans giddy with excitement when they signed him at the beginning of this season.

However, the tricky winger failed to establish himself on Merseyside, making just five league appearances all year.

He has once again been given a chance in England with Eddie Howe's exciting new boys Bournemouth, but Atsu can't allow this season to pass him by.

He better shines this time around. He's to share in the blame for his own flopping. If he had taken his time n remained at Porto, all these wouldn't have happened to him. Right now, even if he's to regain his form at Bournemouth next season, will he be able to gain a spot in Mourinho's squad in the future??? That seems a multi-million $ question.
