Luiz sets sights on silverware
Veteran central defender David Luiz says he arrives at Arsenal from neighbours Chelsea determined to try and help the club challenge for silverware this season.
The 32-year-old Brazil international follows Cletic left-back Kieran Tierney in joining the Gunners just before the transfer window slammed shut, having opted to end his second spell at Stamford Bridge, which had spanned three years.
I know the quality of the team, the players, and that's what makes me excited to dream, to have the ambition to win big things.
Davis Luiz
He previously played for the Blues between January 2011 and the summer of 2014, before heading to France to link up with Paris Saint-Germain.
And, having already helped Chelsea win the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League, Luiz is eager to add to his medal haul while in North London.
He told the club's official website: "I know the quality of the team, the players, and that's what makes me excited to dream, to have the ambition to win big things.
"I think all my life I've always started the season with the goal to win things. It's not going to be different here - I'm going to come with this mentality, because this is what made me move here."
While Luiz was arriving at the Emirates Stadium, Alex Iwobi was departing for Everton on a five-year contract.
The 23-year-old Nigeria international midfielder made exactly 100 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, scoring 11 goals.
Arsenal begin the new Premier League season with a Sunday trip to Tyneside to take on Newcastle United.
The Gunners are 17/20 to win the game and 9/1 to secure a 2-0 victory, with the visitors available at 13/8 to keep a clean sheet.
