Ibrahima Konate should leave RB Leipzig this summer and join Liverpool. According to Sky Sports, the German club is waiting for an official confirmation the the Reds will pay his €35m (£30.2m) release clause. The French centre-back turned 22 on Tuesday and made 21 appearances in 2020-21 season (8 from the kick-off). Leipzig closed his season with a second place, 13 points behind champions Bayern Munich.

Konate suffered an ankle injury in December which kept him out for two months. Since he came back, the player remained unused substitute in both of Leipzig's Champions League last-16 matches against Liverpool (4-0 the aggregate, with Liverpool winning both matches 2-0 thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in each leg).
